NJveg Events – 2018

Everyone is welcome at NJveg events:  vegan, vegetarian, or veg-curious!  Our events are open to the public, except when noted as members only.

The following is a listing of our past events from 2018, for reference.


NJveg Planning Meeting and Late Lunch

Planning of future events, opportunities to get involved, and more.  Tell us what you want to see from the group.  Open to all members.  Non-members are welcome, but cannot vote.  We’ll also be having lunch at this all-vegan restaurant.  Menu:  http://ladyandtheshallot.com/menu.html.  Members will receive 10% off their lunch bill and a free beverage.


Gourmet Vegan Dinner

Join NJveg for a special 4-course vegan dinner, prepared by RCBCCAC students!  We’ve had very enjoyable meals there the last 7 semesters and are continuing our tradition this semester!  These dinners assure the students – future chefs – that providing vegan options is essential.  A gift of a vegan cookbook is made to each student as additional encouragement!

  • Shaved Brussels sprout salad (Coconut bacon, Roasted Portobello mushrooms, mustard vinaigrette)
  • Vegetable soup (Dashi broth, roasted vegetables, fregola pasta, chili oil)
  • Pappardelle Ragu (Dinosaur kale and white bean ragu with fresh semolina pasta)
  • Dessert trio (Cake, ice cream, crème brulee)

The Chicken Refuge Visit and Vegan Potluck Picnic

Join NJveg for a visit to The Chicken Refuge, a 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit charity, whose mission is to give chickens that need refuge a place to live out their natural lives happily and with dignity in a safe and loving environment.  We will also have a vegan potluck picnic at the refuge!

NJveg will not be charging for this event, but a donation to the refuge is suggested and greatly appreciated.  Children are welcome but must be closely supervised for their safety.  If you can bring a folding table or chairs, please let us know.


Outreach – Hightstown Harvest Fair

Vegan Outreach Planning Session

Outreach season is approaching!  NJveg plans to have a table at green festivals, fairs, and other events, where we’ll answer questions and provide free literature on the benefits of a plant-based diet.
Join us at The Moth, a vegetarian coffeehouse with plenty of vegan options, to plan our season’s activities.  NJveg will buy a vegan cookie for attendees!

We need volunteers!  Come help out for an hour, or an entire event, to spread the word that going vegan saves animals, protects the environment, and improves your health!  No experience is necessary.  We particularly need help setting up (usually an hour before events) and packing up (to 30 minutes after events).

Wiffle Ball/Vegan Potluck Picnic to benefit The Chicken Refuge

Come join us and meet your fellow vegans!  We all wish we had more vegan friends.  Here’s a great opportunity to come and meet like minded vegans (and have great vegan food!).  Bring a dish to share and drinks and lawn chairs.  There are picnic tables and restrooms at this park.  No experience with wiffle ball needed and you are welcome to just come and share some great food.  No need to play!

This is not an NJveg event, but a number of our members will be participating in this great fundraiser.  Hope you can join us!
