NJveg Prior Events – 2023
Everyone is welcome at NJveg events: vegan, vegetarian, or veg-curious! Our events are open to the public, except when noted as members only.
The following is a listing of our previous events from 2023, for reference. Indoor dining events were restricted during the pandemic, but we still managed to have a lot of fun and safe activities!
Educational Outreach – NJ Annual LGBT+ Pride Festival

NJveg will answer questions and provide free literature on the benefits of a plant-based diet. We need volunteers for this and other outreach. Come out for an hour, or the entire event. Help spread the word that going vegan saves animals, protects the environment, and improves your health! No experience is necessary. We particularly need help setting up (at 10:15am) and packing up (to about 6:30pm).

Volunteer Work Day – South Jersey Horse Rescue

Join NJveg for a volunteer work day! We’ll be helping out vegan sanctuary South Jersey Horse Rescue. We highly recommend bringing a water bottle, bug spray, sunblock, work gloves, work boots, and clothes that can get dirty. If you’d like to donate, you can do so at the sanctuary, or online. Children are welcome with an adult.
Members-Only Vegan Potluck Picnic

Join NJveg for a potluck picnic! This event will be outdoors at a private home. NJveg members only; adults only. Restroom, refrigerator, and drink cooler will be available. Please bring your plate and utensils (we will have extras of all), plus a chair if possible.
Hiking + Vegan Dining – Burlington County

The 63rd in NJveg’s hiking/walking + vegan dining series will start at Rancocas State Park (north section) in Westampton (map – we’ll hike the white and green trails at the top of the map, ~2.5 miles). We’ll meet at the parking area east of the Westampton Municipal Complex (GPS coordinates 40.0075, -74.8333). We’ll then head over to vegan restaurant Shokra Soups in Willingboro for lunch.
Volunteer Work Day – Fluffy Butt Rescue

Volunteer Work Day – The Troll House Sanctuary

The 62nd in NJveg’s hiking/walking + vegan dining series will start with a hike/walk at Dorbrook Recreation Area in Colts Neck (info & map)! We’ll meet at the Activity Center parking lot. Afterward, we’ll head over to the Vegan in NJ Monthly Market in Neptune Township for food and shopping.

5-course Gourmet Vegan Meal Catered by Lady and the Shallot

It’s back! Join NJveg and Vegan in NJ for another prix fixe meal with our friends at Lady and the Shallot! LatS is a completely vegan, gluten free, and nut free restaurant located inside the Trenton Farmers Market. Our prior meals here (pre-pandemic) were amazing, among the highlights of the year, and drew raves – including from one of our members, “The best meal I’ve ever had!”
This will be a seated, 5-course dinner. The menu by owners Francesca Avitto and Kate Wnek looks amazing:

*** SOLD OUT *** Tickets $55 for NJveg members (current on dues, join here), $60 for non-members (plus sales tax and booking fee). $5 from each ticket purchased will be donated to Marley Meadows Animal Sanctuary, a nonprofit vegan farm animal sanctuary in Leesburg, NJ. This event has sold out previously (we’ve had to turn people away), so buy your tickets soon! Tickets will NOT be sold at the door.
Volunteer Work Day + Hike – Unexpected Wildlife Refuge

Join NJveg for a volunteer work day combined with a hike! We’ll be helping out Unexpected Wildlife Refuge, a vegan-run safe place for wild animals and plants consisting of almost 800 acres. The Refuge has approximately 10 miles of trails to hike, with some trail maintenance and plant pruning thrown in. We highly recommend bringing a water bottle, bug spray, sunblock, work gloves, work boots, and clothes that can get dirty. Waterproof shoes are recommended if there’s been a lot of recent rain. Also, please be prepared for the possibility of ticks. If you’d like to donate, you can do so online. Supervised children are welcome.
Vegan Potluck Picnic + Optional Hike

Join NJveg for a vegan potluck picnic, followed by an optional (easy) hike! NJveg members: $2 ($5 family); Non-members: $5 ($15 family) (to cover venue rental). Be green: get $2 off ($5 family) if you bring reusable place settings! (We will have extras.) Review our potluck guidelines. Volunteers needed for setup and cleanup.
Earth Day Cleanup

Volunteer Work Day – Marley Meadows Animal Sanctuary

Join NJveg for a volunteer work day! This is a joint event with Vegan in NJ. We’ll be helping out the vegan non-profit Marley Meadows Animal Sanctuary. If you’d like to donate to Marley Meadows Sanctuary, you can do so at the sanctuary or online. Please sign up only if you are serious about attending and plan to attend for the full 10am-2pm. If anything comes up and you need to cancel, let us know ASAP, so that we may fill your spot. We highly recommend bringing a water bottle, bug spray, sunblock, work gloves, work boots, and clothes that can get dirty. Please note there is no public bathroom on premise, but if needed, there’s a Wawa about 6-7 minutes away.
