NJveg (@vegnj) had a volunteer work day on Sunda NJveg (@vegnj) had a volunteer work day on Sunday April 13, helping the vegan non-profit Ferrets & Friends Sanctuary (@keepingupwiththerescues) in Sicklerville.  We scrubbed and power washed all the ferret cage trays and litter pan holders.  We had time to hang around and hold the ferrets afterward, which was a first for each of the volunteers. The 95th in NJveg’s (@vegnj) hiking/walking + v The 95th in NJveg’s (@vegnj) hiking/walking + vegan dining series was on Saturday April 12.  We started with Plant Based New Jersey’s potluck at the Clinton Community Center.  This is a monthly potluck with no added salt, oil, or sugar, and no processed food (e.g., white bread, white pasta), open to all.  We then headed to nearby Round Valley Recreation Area (brochure) for an easy ~2 mile hike on the Water and Pine Tree trails.  It was unseasonably cold and there was a brief sprinkle but despite all the recent rain, the trail wasn’t very muddy, so we had a great time!  📸 Andrea, Steve, Anthony

NJveg (@vegnj) had a volunteer work day on Satur NJveg (@vegnj) had a volunteer work day on Saturday March 29, helping the non-profit Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge (@cedarrunwildlife) in Medford.  It’s one of the largest wildlife rehabilitation hospitals in NJ, home to 50 native residents, and sees more than 7,000 wild animals each year.  We did a lot of raking, some painting, assembled a bench and a retaining wall, and installed some posts.  If you’d like to donate, you can do so at the sanctuary or online.

Afterward, most of the volunteers had vegan pizza at Tiga’s Artisan Pizzeria and vegan ice cream at Peewee’s Ice Cream, both in Medford.  📸  Mackenzie, Brett, Christian, and Steve
