The 118th in NJveg’s (@vegnj) hiking/walking + vegan dining series was on Sunday April 5. We started with an easy hike at Shark River Park (brochure) in Wall Township, managing to get in about 35 minutes before rain started. We then made the 0.2 mile journey to the Vegan in NJ Monthly Market (@veganinnjmarket) in Neptune Township for dining and shopping. 📷 Steve W, Andrea, and Steve J![]()

This Tuesday, NJVeg had their collaborative event with Rutgers-New Brunswick of making vegan food kits for the local New Brunswick food pantry! We were able to do this with the help of the Bonner Foundation Community Fund project, where I (Farida) was able to earn the grant to make this project come true. We were also able to do this with the fundraiser that NJVeg held a few months ago, so if you had contributed to that fundraiser, THANK YOU! You were part of the reason that we could achieve this. ![]()
We are hoping to do more similar projects in the future, and this was a great way to contribute to the local community and do our part in feeding the hungry. Once again, thank you to anyone who donated, we really appreciate your contribution!![]()

The 118th in NJveg’s hiking/walking + vegan dining series will start with an easy hike at Shark River Park (brochure). Meet at the Gully Rd entrance (GPS coordinates 40.201108, -74.081025), NOT the main park entrance. You can park in either the Park’s lot, or (recommended) at the market, which is just 0.2 miles north.![]()
Afterward, we’ll head to the Vegan in NJ Monthly Market (at American Legion Post 346, 21 Gully Rd, Neptune Township, NJ 07753) for dining and shopping. We’ll still attend the market if there’s inclement weather.
Join NJveg for a volunteer work day! We’ll be helping the vegan non-profit Ferrets & Friends Sanctuary. We’ll be doing a deep cleaning and power washing of cage trays, plus some repairs to the ferret house. We highly recommend bringing a water bottle, work gloves, and clothes that can get dirty. If you’d like to donate, you can do so at the sanctuary or online.![]()
Space is very limited, adults only. Please sign up only if you are serious about attending and plan to attend for the full time. If anything comes up and you need to cancel, let us know ASAP, so that we may fill your spot. We’ve had a problem with last minute cancellations – don’t be that person! The address (in Sicklerville, NJ 08081) will be provided privately to volunteers before the event.![]()
We need volunteers for future sanctuary work days. If you’re interested in joining NJveg’s volunteer team, please contact us at NJveg.org@gmail.com or 609-557-7077 (text preferred).

NJveg (@vegnj) joined Surfrider Jersey Shore for a cleanup at Ideal Beach in Middletown on Saturday March 28 (thanks to NJveg member Tom P for the suggestion). Afterward, we had lunch at Nature’s Plate Vegan Cafe in Keyport.
NJveg's (@vegnj) spring educational outreach season is starting and volunteers are needed! At these, NJveg answers questions and provides free literature on the benefits of a plant-based life.![]()
Come out for an hour, or the entire event. Help spread the word that going vegan saves animals, protects the environment, and improves your health! No experience is necessary. We mainly need help setting up (opening), about 60-90 minutes before events, and packing up (closing), but help at any time is appreciated!![]()
Volunteers are needed for multiple events, including April 12 in Edison, April 18 in Medford, April 26 in Egg Harbor Township, and May 2 in Millville, May 16 & 17 in Asbury Park, June 13 in Philadelphia, August 8 in Phoenixville PA, October 10 in Eastampton. We’d also like to schedule outreach in North Jersey and additional ones elsewhere, but need volunteers before paying the registration fees.![]()
Please let us know if you can volunteer for any listed here: njveg.org/future-venues/future-educational-outreach/ (include the times you’re available), even if just for an hour. Thanks!

NJveg @vegnj) had a volunteer work day on Sunday March 22 helping the vegan non-profit Marley Meadows Animal Sanctuary (@marleymeadowssanctuary) in Egg Harbor Township. It was one of our largest work days ever, with over 20 volunteers participating! We cleared lots of downed trees, branches, and bamboo that came down in winter storms, cleaned out old bedding in the goat area, and applied lots of fresh mulch in all the bird enclosures. A delicious lunch was donated by Wildflower Vegan Cafe (@wildflowervegancafe)! If you’d like to donate, you can do so at the sanctuary or online. 📷 Andrea, Steve, and Leon![]()
