The 129th in NJveg’s (NJveg) hiking/walking + vegan dining series started with a moderate ~2 mile hike at NJ Audubon’s Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary in Bernardsville on Sunday August 9. The 128th in NJveg’s (NJveg) hiking/walking + vegan dining series started with an easy walk/hike at the new Skillman Park (info, map) on Sunday August 2. We did an ~2.5 mile loop consisting of a paved trail and an unpaved nature trail. We then had a delicious early dinner at vegan-friendly Ricky’s Thai (@rickysthai), also in Skillman. 📸 Steve and Sas

NJveg (NJveg) had a volunteer work day helping the vegan non-profit sanctuary Wild Lands, Wild Horses (Wild Lands Wild Horses) in Pittsgrove Township on Saturday August 1. We pulled a lot of weeds, mowed, weedwhacked, mucked, raked hay, cleaned water troughs, and repaired fences. Afterward, several of us made it a double - volunteer work day, that is - by heading to nearby Layla’s Rescue Ranch (Layla’s Rescue Ranch). We built a door for a new chicken coop and mucked some pig enclosures.![]()

Help spread the word that going vegan saves animals, protects the environment, and improves your health! No experience is necessary. NJveg (NJveg) had a special 2 course “seafood” dinner at vegan restaurant Shokra Soups (Shokra Soups) in Willingboro on Friday July 24. Everything was delicious! Some of us also got vegan dessert from adjoining The Supreme Sweets Dessert Shop.

The 127th in NJveg’s (@vegnj) hiking/walking + vegan dining series was a joint event with the Veg Friends of South Jersey Heylo group on Saturday July 11. We started with an easy ~4.5 mile hike/walk on the southern half of the Elephant Swamp Trail in Elmer and Upper Pittsgrove, out-and-back. Afterward, we had a delicious lunch at Papa Luigi Elmer, @papa_luigis_elmer (just a block away), which has an extensive vegan menu, including plenty of gluten free options! 📸 Steve W and Steve J
